Since founding Nicole Hawkins Communications, LLC (NHC) in 2004, Nicole has collaborated with corporations, for profits, non-profits, and sports organizations to help them communicate better, and to make a greater impact in their communities. Current and past clients include AARP, Colon Cancer Alliance, Foundation for Advancing Alcohol Responsibility, the George Washington University School of Business Sports Philanthropy Program, NBC Sports Washington, the National Kidney Foundation of the National Capital Area, Panera Bread, WJLA-TV/ABC 7, and the Washington Spirit of the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL).
Prior to founding NHC, Nicole was the Public Relations Director for the National Basketball Association’s (NBA) Washington Wizards. Nicole made history as the first Black woman to be named Public Relations Director for an NBA franchise. Nicole held various other roles with Monumental Sports and Entertainment including Director of Event and Venue Public Relations for Capital One Arena, and Assistant Director of Public Relations for the Washington Mystics of the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA). She started her career in the Communications Department at the WNBA league office in New York City.
In the fall of 2024, Nicole will launch Live Life True – a community designed to help people find the things that are most important to them, and to live their lives true to who they really are.
Nicole is a member of ColorComm, an organization designed to unite diverse women in the communications industry. She is a graduate of the University of Maryland, College Park and attended Jefferson Community College in Watertown, New York and she also received a professional certificate in Sports Philanthropy from the George Washington University School of Business.
